This Privacy Policy explains how Spira ("Spira," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "App"). We built Spira to help you, not to harvest your data — so we keep what we collect to a minimum and we never sell it.

The short version: Your habits and rewards are yours. We collect the data needed to run the App, we use trusted providers to keep it running, we don't sell your personal information, and you can ask us to export or delete your data at any time.

1Overview

Spira is a habit-tracking app with a playful rewards mechanic: you complete the habits you set, earn in-app tokens, and "spin" to win the real-life rewards you define for yourself. This policy applies to the App and any websites or support channels that link to it. It does not apply to third-party products or services we don't control.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please don't use the App.

2Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you provide

  • Account information. If you create an account, we collect details such as your name (or display name), email address, and authentication credentials. You may also sign in using a third-party provider (for example, Sign in with Apple or Google), in which case we receive the basic profile information you authorize.
  • Habit and reward content. The habits you create, their schedules and token values, your completion history, the rewards you add to your Vault, your token balance, and the outcomes of spins. This is the core content that makes the App work for you.
  • Support communications. If you contact us, we keep your messages and contact details so we can help and follow up.

Information collected automatically

  • Device & technical data. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and similar diagnostics.
  • Usage data. Aggregated, privacy-respecting information about how the App is used — for example, which screens are opened or whether a feature is used — to help us improve the App.
  • Crash & performance data. Diagnostic logs that help us find and fix bugs.

No real-money or financial data. Spira does not involve real-money gambling. In-app tokens have no monetary value and cannot be purchased, cashed out, or exchanged for money. We do not collect bank account or gambling-related financial information. If you buy an optional subscription, payment is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see your full card details.

3How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and operate the App, including syncing your habits, tokens, and rewards across your devices;
  • Personalize your experience, such as remembering your settings and the odds you configure;
  • Send service messages and, if you opt in, habit reminders and notifications;
  • Understand how the App is used so we can improve features, performance, and reliability;
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your habit content to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.

4Legal bases for processing

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a region with similar laws, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the App and the features you request;
  • Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the App in ways you would reasonably expect;
  • Consent — for optional things like push notifications or certain analytics, which you can withdraw at any time;
  • Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with the law.

5How we share information

We share information only in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. With trusted vendors who process data on our behalf — such as cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, and crash reporting — under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
  • Legal & safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Spira, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you and honor the commitments in this policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6Third-party services

The App relies on a small number of third-party providers to function — for example, cloud storage and database hosting, authentication, push-notification delivery, anonymized analytics, and crash diagnostics. These providers process data on our instructions and are bound by their own privacy commitments. App Store and Google Play handle any optional in-app purchases.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of your device platform (Apple or Google) to understand how they handle data at the operating-system level.

7Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.

8Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Delete your account and associated personal data;
  • Export a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • Opt out of notifications at any time in your device settings or the App.

You can manage much of this directly in the App. To make a request you can't complete in-app, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

9Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable hosting providers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to safeguard your data and to respond promptly if an issue arises.

10Children's privacy

Spira is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

11International data transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses — to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
